So, I've been working on a new "thing" over the last few months. It's big, it's bold and it's very grown up. It's a new business. It's collaborative. And it's still about illustration.
For a long time I've been thinking about this. About what my next step in my career would be. I'd never leave illustration behind. I love it far too much. So I'm taking my skills in the illustration industry (from understanding the illustration process, to my love of the business side of the field) and applying them not just to myself, but to others as well.
Enter Alexander's Band, my very new and highly curated offering to the illustration representation field in SA.
Some of you may have noticed the announcement on twitter or Facebook yesterday. And some of you may be thinking, "Oh my god she's not making pictures any more!" I promise that that is not the case. I'm still going to be making pretty pictures when I can, but I'll also be spending my time looking after a host of other illustrators; getting them work and managing their admin etc.
I like this stuff. No, really. I enjoy the business side of illustration. I love working with clients and getting stuff done. I also really like looking after people and helping them out and what better marriage of those things than a venture like Alexander's Band?
So, again, it's awesome to finally unleash this on the world after having worked so quietly on it for many months. And a massive thank you to the talented creatures who signed up with me in this fledgling venture. Alexander's would be nothing without them, their trust in me and their incredible work is paramount to Alexander's success.
